Prototype cartridge used in development of an automated Point-of-Care Test system for evaluating glycated hemoglobin levels. The cartridge is the size of a dental floss dispenser, but infinitely more complex.
Cartridge housings are molded from a high-flow PMMA (acrylic), and then assembled using ultrasonic welding. With light transmission of 92% in the visible spectrum (as measured by ASTM D103), PMMA is one of the most optically clear plastic materials available.
